Rewilding Europe Circle

Role and function of the Circle

On 2 December 2015, Rewilding Europe launched a new and important initiative. After five years of hard work and dedication we felt it was time to invite a small assembly of individuals to join us as founding members of The Rewilding Europe Circle – a group that will champion and support our initiative in the widest sense possible.

The Rewilding Europe Circle is best described as a group of highly profile and respected individuals who share our passion for making Europe a wilder place and are willing to help us make it real. Rewilding Europe Circle members will provide support, networks and expertise to help raise the public’s awareness of the opportunities that rewilding brings to Europe as a new conservation approach.

We are very excited to have found nine members with different fields of expertise and background, representing different geographical regions in Europe. They have all committed to support our initiative through their role in the Rewilding Europe Circle. They are not ‘just’ patrons or ambassadors in a traditional meaning; they play an important role in making a real difference to what Rewilding Europe can achieve.

Meet the members

Currently, the Rewilding Europe Circle has eleven members with background and expertise in a broad range of fields: conservation, science, communication, TV and social media, business, national and EU policies, and governance. Countries represented are The Netherlands, Switzerland, Croatia, United Kingdom, Spain, Bulgaria, Belgium, Portugal, Germany, Czech Republic and the United States.

Each of the members has agreed on a specific set of activities in support of Rewilding Europe in a way that feels meaningful, tangible and interesting for each of them personally. Read their biographies and personal quotes why they have joined the Rewilding Europe Circle by clicking on the name of a member under his/hers photo. The membership base of the Circle will likely grow in the near future.
